What is the World Service Fund?
The World Service Fund is one of the seven apportioned funds of The United Methodist Church. The World Service Fund provides the basic support for most of the general agencies of The United Methodist Church to work with missionaries, children and youth, persons with disabilities, leader training, and interdenominational and ecumenical works.

What ministries are supported through the World Service Fund?
The World Service Fund supports evangelistic efforts; stimulate Bible study and spiritual commitment; and support local church efforts with children, youth, singles, students, persons who are disabled and adults of all ages.

Does the World Service Fund support any administrative costs?
The World Service Fund provides basic administrative support for most of the general agencies of The United Methodist Church, in addition to ministry.

Why is the World Service Fund called the “heart of our denomination?"
The World Service Fund is about ministry to a global community. That ministry is the heart of our denomination and the drive that keeps us going. Without the World Service Fund, anti-hunger projects, global advocacy for women and children, and so much more could not be possible.

How are the funds for the World Service Fund distributed?
The monies remitted to the World Service Fund are distributed through the General Council on Finance and Administration.

How much money was remitted to the World Service Fund in the last three years?
In 2007, $72,570,424 was remitted to the World Service Fund. In 2006, $69,361,531 was given and $66,194,825 in 2005.

Can I give to the World Service Fund online?
You can not give online to the World Service Fund. We hope to be able to offering online giving to the apportioned funds in the future. However, you can remit money to your local church and designate it for the World Service Fund.
