The Episcopal Fund is one of seven apportionments of The United Methodist Church. It is apportioned among the 63 annual conferences in the United States. As of August 31, 2008, the most recent financial data available, the Episcopal Fund had received $10,683,400. This represents 48.1 percent of our goal amount of $22,219,167 for 2008. In 2007, the Episcopal Fund received $19,319,281. In 2006, $18,423,278 was remitted to the Episcopal Fund. $17,821,801 was remitted in 2005.
The United Methodist Church is grateful to those annual conferences that faithfully remit their Episcopal Fund apportionment at 100 percent. Supporting the active and retired bishops of The United Methodist Church and their work, 27 annual conferences remitted at 100 percent to the General Administration Fund in 2007. Those conferences are: Alaska Missionary, Arkansas Area, Baltimore-Washington, Central Pennsylvania, Central Texas, Desert Southwest, Detroit, East Ohio, Eastern Pennsylvania, Greater New Jersey, Illinois Great Rivers, Kansas West, Kentucky, Louisiana, New England, New York, North Central New York, North Carolina, Northern Illinois, Oklahoma Indian Missionary, Pacific Northwest, Peninsula Delaware, Red Bird Missionary, Rio Grande, West Michigan, Western Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
The Episcopal Fund apportionment is imperative to the shepherds leading our church. Providing financial support enables our bishops to do the work of Christ with zest and vitality. It takes money and recommitment to make this happen. It takes you.
Your congregation’s 100-percent support of the Episcopal Fund is pivotal to our leaders. Be a leader in your congregation. Please give generously and thoughtfully to the Episcopal Fund. Thank you!
