World Communion Sunday is one of the six churchwide Special Sundays with offerings of The United Methodist Church. Each church is encouraged to celebrate the Special Sundays. As of April 30, 2012, the most recent financial data available, the World Communion Sunday offering had received $69,946.
In 2011, $819,749 was remitted, in 2010, $912,720 was remitted, in 2009, $930,878 was remitted and in 2008, $1,028,865 was remitted.
World Communion Sunday provides scholarships for U.S. racial- and ethnic-minority students and international students, on both undergraduate and graduate levels.
