What Is the General Administration Fund?

 

 

"We don’t want anyone suspecting us of taking one penny of this money for ourselves. We’re being as careful in our reputation with the public as in our reputation with God." 
--2 Corinthians 8:20-21, The Message

The General Administration Fund supports the critical administrative functions of the United Methodist Church:

  •  Without it, you could not feel confident that the money you share through your local church is going where you expect it to go. (General Council on Finance and Administration)
  •  Without it, United Methodist delegates—selected by their peers around the world—would not meet to decide the church’s future at General Conference.
  •  Without it, the nine-member Judicial Council, United Methodism’s highest court, would lack the means and the authority to grapple with serious questions of church law.
  •  Without it, United Methodist history would not be preserved—for the church today and for years to come. (General Commission on Archives and History)

Why give to the General Administration Fund? Our gifts help to maintain a system of checks and balances to ensure the denomination operates efficiently. Our contributions also enable church law and practice to be heard and decided.
