  • BCF: Bethune Cookman - June 2010

    United Methodist-Related Bethune-Cookman University, a Black College Fund school, prepares students for leadership for life by doing community service. In this video, accounting students gain real world experience preparing income taxes for low income residents. “It’s fantastic to be able to have a class where the students prepare income tax returns in real life. So it’s taking the classroom setting and bringing it to life” says Professor Michelle Troian, Accounting Instructor.

  • BCF: Meharry Medical College June 2010

    Two months from graduation, future doctors at United Methodist-related Meharry Medical College learn where they will spend the next three to seven years. Thousands of med students across the United States apply for residency openings through a computerized placement service. The announcement ceremony is called “match day.” The United Methodist Church, through the Black College Fund, supports Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tenn.

  • William Montgomery's DVD on Haiti recovery - Jan. 2010
    William Montgomery, a senior at Rust College in Holly Springs, Miss., has had Haiti on his heart for several months. The pastor of Ecru and Thaxton United Methodist churches said his mission team selected Haiti as its destination for summer missions.
