What is NOT Connectional Giving, and Why
|
A fund that supports local church maintenance such as janitorial service or the electric and water bills is not connectional giving. Nor are salaries for local church leadership. Love offerings for special guests or fund raising for a mission is not connectional giving. The key in connectional giving is that the money connects all United Methodist churches together. Apportioned funds, Special Sundays, The Advance, special appeals and conference benevolences are all examples of connectional giving. Each church contributes to the larger goal and therefore, accomplishes more together than it would alone.
