Where Money is Spent

When I put money into the offering plate, where does my gift go? This is a common question, and we hope this graphic will illustrate the answer.

If you put a one-dollar bill into the offering plate, the money is divided into three categories.

  • 84.6 cents stays in your local church. This money assists local ministries, church maintenance, pastoral support and other local opportunities.
  • 12.7 cents funds the work of the annual conference, the district, the episcopal area and the jurisdiction.
  • Only 2.7 cents supports the work of the general boards and agencies.
