 God’s Steadfast Love

"Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wonderful works to humankind.” - Psalm 107:8, NRSV

Call to Worship
Leader: Give thanks to the LORD!
ALL: God’s love is steadfast.
Leader: God’s people can testify.
ALL: We are redeemed from trouble.
Leader: God gathered us.
ALL: When we were hungry and thirsty.
Leader: When we had no home.
ALL: God delivered us from our distress.
Leader: Give thanks to the LORD!
ALL: For all God has done for us.
Adapted from Psalm 107:1-8

Gathering Prayer
God, our Creator and Redeemer, hear us now as we come to you on behalf of your people who are hungry, without a home, caught in political strife, separated from family, or driven from their homeland. We know you hear their cries. As we gather to worship today, show us how to be your hands and feet and answer their call for help. Let us share in our wealth to be a tangible expression of your love. Spur us to action, Lord.
In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen.

Litany
Leader: When God answer a call of distress.
ALL: We give thanks for God’s steadfast love.
Leader: When a hungry belly is filled.
ALL: We give thanks for God’s steadfast love.
Leader: When a family driven from their home finds safety and security.
ALL: We give thanks for God’s steadfast love.
Leader: When a community ripped a part by war finds healing.
ALL: We give thanks for God’s steadfast love.
Leader: When a new well gives a community clean water.
ALL: We give thanks for God’s steadfast love.
Leader: When we remember all that God has done for us.
ALL: We give thanks for all God’s wonderful works.

Prayer of Dedication
Loving God, we give as our act of worship. May these gifts make your steadfast love real to hurting people. Let them reach those in need of your loving-kindness. May they provide homes to the homeless, food for the hungry, safety for the refugee, and justice where there is none.
In the name of Jesus we pray.
Amen.

Benediction
Go out today knowing that God’s steadfast love extends beyond these walls, throughout your communities and into the world.
