On a night dedicated to celebrating the most outstanding institutions from both the private and public sector in Zimbabwe, Africa University was awarded first place at this year’s 6th edition of the Contact Centre Association of Zimbabwe (CCAZ) Service Excellence Awards. The award ceremony was held in October 2017 in the Higher Education Category at a gala hosted in Harare at the Rainbow Towers Hotel where over 450 delegates were in attendance for a night that showcased exceptional leaders in industry.
German Ambassador Thorsten Hutter officiated as the guest of honor at the event. Speaking on the significance of recognizing and valuing organizations that have delivered stellar customer service in the past year, Mr. Timothy Mupotsa, a consultant with the CCAZ said, “These awards give a true reflection of the market and how consumers feel about the products, services and the overall brand that the corporate, public and private sectors are offering”.
Africa University was up against other higher education giants that include Midlands State University, Solusi University, The National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Chinhoyi University of Technology and Great Zimbabwe University. The selection of the overall winner was based on a rigorous adjudication process that involved large scale stakeholder participation, surveys and most importantly an online voting system that allowed the customer, recipients of the services offered in higher education and other sectors, to offer their opinions and select those organizations they deemed the best with regards to service delivery, product quality and overall customer satisfaction.
Africa University has emphasized its dedication to living up to its vision and mission of becoming a world class University that offers the best customer and student experience. The awarding of first place to AU at the Service Excellence Awards bares testimony to the University’s efforts and resounding success in achieving this. Ms. Liseli Nare, the Regional Programs Manager of the Chartered Institute of Customer Management, the co- organizer of the Service Excellence Awards said, “The winners set a benchmark of excellence and show that they are doing something right and deliver a quality that customers come to expect and measure all other organizations by”.
The CCAZ was opened in Zimbabwe in 2010 and is the largest customer care accreditor in Zimbabwe. The service Excellence Awards are also held in other countries including Zambia, Swaziland and Malawi.
